OEA – XLII Asamblea General “Seguridad Alimentaria con Soberanía en las Américas”– Cochabamba, Bolivia – 3 al 5 de junio, 2012
Representante de la sociedad civil:
Nos es grato saludarle con el fin de informarle que la XLII Asamblea General de la OEA “Seguridad Alimentaria con Soberanía en las Américas” se llevará a cabo en Cochabamba, Bolivia del 3 al 5 de junio de 2012. En el marco de dicha Asamblea, habrá tres eventos para la participación de las organizaciones de la sociedad civil (OSC), a saber:
1- Conversación Informal entre el Secretario General de la OEA y los Representantes de las Organizaciones de la Sociedad Civil (2 de junio de 2012);
2- Reunión de Coordinación entre las Organizaciones de la Sociedad Civil (2 de junio de 2012);
3- Diálogo de los Jefes de Delegación y el Secretario General con los Representantes de la Sociedad Civil sobre el tema de la XLII Asamblea General “Seguridad Alimentaria con Soberanía en las Américas” (3 de junio de 2012).
Asimismo, los representantes de las OSC aprobadas por el Consejo Permanente de la OEA para participar en la XLII Asamblea General podrán asistir como observadores a todas las sesiones plenarias y de la Comisión General de la misma. Adjunto encontrará el boletín informativo para la sociedad civil.
De acuerdo con el Artículo 10 del Reglamento de la Asamblea General de la OEA, las organizaciones de la sociedad civil que deseen participar bajo la categoría “Invitado Especial” y que estén inscritas en el Registro de Organizaciones de la Sociedad Civil de la OEA deberán remitir una comunicación al Secretario General José Miguel Insulza dirigida al Departamento de Asuntos Internacionales (DAI) (civilsociety@oas.org), en la que indique su interés en participar y los nombres de sus representantes (máximo 2). En el caso de que su organización no esté registrada en la OEA deberá adjuntar además de la carta dirigida al Secretario General de la OEA, los siguientes documentos: acta constitutiva, informe anual más reciente y misión institucional de su organización…
Dicha comunicación debe ser enviada con 45 días de antelación (antes del jueves 19 de abril de 2012, a las 5:00pm) por correo electrónico a civilsociety@oas.org o por fax (202) 458-6319. El plazo, previamente indicado, obedece a que la Secretaría General presentará una lista de las organizaciones que hayan enviado su solicitud para la consideración del Consejo Permanente al menos 30 días antes de la realización de la Asamblea General.

OAS – XLII General Assembly “Food Security with Sovereignty in the Americas” – Cochabamba, Bolivia-June 3-5 2012
Civil society representative,
We would to extend our greetings and inform you that the XLII OAS General Assembly “Food Security with Sovereignty in the Americas” will take place on June 3-5, 2012 in Cochabamba, Bolivia. In the framework of the mentioned General Assembly, there will be three events for civil society participation:
1- Informal Conversation between the Secretary General of the OAS and the Representatives of Civil Society Organizations (June 2, 2012);
2- Coordination meeting for civil society organizations ( June 2, 2012); and
3- Dialogue of the Heads of Delegation and the Secretary General with Civil Society Representatives on the Theme of the General Assembly “Food Security with Sovereignty in the Americas” (June 3, 2012).
In addition, civil society representatives that are approved by the OAS Permanent Council to participate in the XLII OAS General Assembly will be able to attend as observers all the plenary sessions and the General Committee sessions of the mentioned General Assembly. Please find attached the information bulletin for civil society organizations.
In accordance with Article 10 of the Rules of Procedure of the General Assembly, civil society organizations that are part of the Registry of Civil Society Organizations in the OAS and wish to participate under the category of “Special Guest” shall submit a letter to Secretary General José Miguel Insulza, addressed to the Department of International Affairs (DIA) (civilsociety@oas.org), indicating their interest in participating and the names of their representatives (maximum 2). Those CSOs that are not registered with the OAS, shall present, in addition to the letter addressed to the OAS Secretary General, the following documents: Charter or constitution, most recent annual report, and institutional mission statement.
The application to attend to the XLII OAS General Assembly should be sent at least 45 days in advance (before Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 5:00pm) by email to civilsociety@oas.org or by fax (202) 458-6319. The indicated time period is necessary because the General Secretariat must submit a final list of organizations to the Permanent Council for its consideration at least 30 days prior to the opening of the General Assembly.
